Il doumos. Un'associazione sacra in zone di contatto

The doumos: a religious association in contact zones. The word doumos is a technical term defining a religious association typical of the cult of Magna Mater or, more precisely, of a Mater in the various forms she assumes in the different regions. The presence of other divinities among the cults of the association isn’t in contradiction with the proper sphere of its activity, because these divinities are always in relation to the cult of a Mater or, anyway, usually in association with her (Dionysus, Sabazios, Men, Kypris /Aphrodite, Zeus). The association shows all the variations typical of the cult of the Mater in the different settings in which it arrives.
