New data regarding vertical and rotational displacement trajectories of a model footing resting on dense sand and obtained through a series of experiments both in normal and incremented (via hydraulic gradient similitude method) gravity conditions, are presented in the paper. Collapse interaction lines compare favorably with results of other researches; the role of incremented gravity on the shape and size of interaction diagrams is pointed out and shown to be amenable to investigations performed on prototype. Interpretation of test results is carried out through a non-associated, strain-hardening plasticity model. The constitutive parameters of the mathematical model are calibrated on the basis of small scale tests results available in literature, besides those reported herein.
