The Paesum National Archaeology Museum is one of the most important archaeological museums of Magna Graecia. With its many panels, reconstructive drawings and models, and a careful selection of artifacts, it allows visitors to follow the history of the area from prehistory to the foundation of the Achaen colony at the end of the seventh century BC, and from the end of the Lucan conquest to the foundation of the Latin colony in 273 BC. The Gaudo-culture evidence, the archaic metopes from the Heraion at the mouth of the Sele, the Zeus from the southern sacred area, th Tomb of the Diver, the extraordinary gallery of the painted tomb walls from the Lucanian period, the bronze statue of Marsyas and the statue of the family of Augustus are the milestones of an extraordinary itinary throught history.
