This paper presents a novel method for the design of filter capacitors of dc-dc switching regulators, using a combination of ceramic and electrolytic capacitors. The method is based on the definition of Acceptability Regions, which allow a straightforward identification of minimal size and part count commercial components complying with the voltage ripple and rms current specifications on the capacitors.

Abstract
