An extension of the study of two particle correlations used at RHIC to LHC energies (Pb + Pb at root S(NN) = 5.5 TeV) is presented. The method is based on the two-dimensional Fourier Transform used to calculate the angular autocorrelation function in space. It does not require the identification of a leading particle and is, hence, optimized to the low-pt and medium-pt region at LHC where many minijets are overlapping. We discuss the feasibility of the analysis in heavy ion collisions at the LHC using HIJING and Pythia simulations.

Abstract
An extension of the study of two particle correlations used at RHIC to LHC energies (Pb + Pb at root S(NN) = 5.5 TeV) is presented. The method is based on the two-dimensional Fourier Transform used to calculate the angular autocorrelation function in space. It does not require the identification of a leading particle and is, hence, optimized to the low-pt and medium-pt region at LHC where many minijets are overlapping. We discuss the feasibility of the analysis in heavy ion collisions at the LHC using HIJING and Pythia simulations.File in questo prodotto:
