The article describes the logic of the senses shared by Herder and Plessner. This logic contrasts the "linguistic reductionism", that is, the error of bringing all the experience back into the verbal context. This reductionism in fact denies the sensorial differentiation, that is the ontological value of the plural ways we experience. In the final part the differences between Herder and Plessner are shown, While the former has a rather traditional "bottom up" approach (from the senses to the ideas), the latter has a synergistic approach, where sensitivity carries out its permanent influence on intellectual operations, both incoming (from perception to idea) and outgoing (from idea to perception, that is, to the embodiment of thought into signs and symbols).
