This paper is concerned with protection of the boundary surface from incident seismic waves incoming to the boundary from below. The main purpose is to study the distribution of the amplitude of oscillations over the boundary with variance of its shape. It is clear that the total incoming kinetic energy along the boundary is the same as the one in the incident wave. The problem of how to suppress the amplitude on certain boundary intervals at the expense of its amplification elsewhere is posed. (C) 1998 Academic Press.

Abstract

This paper is concerned with protection of the boundary surface from incident seismic waves incoming to the boundary from below. The main purpose is to study the distribution of the amplitude of oscillations over the boundary with variance of its shape. It is clear that the total incoming kinetic energy along the boundary is the same as the one in the incident wave. The problem of how to suppress the amplitude on certain boundary intervals at the expense of its amplification elsewhere is posed. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
