OBJECTIVES. The purpose of this article was to assess the effectiveness of the association of a professional bleaching treatment with a domiciliary one before a traditional restorative treatment with composite material of upper and lateral left incisors. These teeth were discoloured because of a trauma during childhood. METHODS. A treatment with 30% carbamide peroxide activated by halogen light was repeated three times in the dental office. A 9% carbamide peroxide was applied at home for 30 minutes each day for three weeks. Finally the teeth were restored by composite materials. RESULTS. The results showed that the association of domiciliary and professional bleaching techniques is effective and that it reduces treatment time. After eliminating the discoloration, the use of composite materials restored normal dental anatomy. CONCLUSIONS. The aesthetical treatment described by the authors allowed a satisfactory clinical result together with a functional restoration of dysmorphic incisors.
