Postural comfort is one of the aspect of comfort/discomfort perception and it is heavily affected by the methods used to measure the spatial configuration of body-parts. In fact, state of art deals with methods that suffer two kinds of problems: they are very expensive methods (laser scanning, magnetic sensors, acoustic sensors, etc.) and they are also very invasive or imprecise (manual measurements, reverse engineering, etc.). The objective of this paper is to propose and test a non-invasive, versatile and economic measurement method based on the use of photogrammetry 4D (3D / xyz + 1D / time = 4D measurement). The developed process, essentially, requires the video-registration from different points of view and in simultaneous of all the work station under analysis. This has been made by using three ordinary webcams with the cost of € 75. Subsequently, the data has been processed in the EOS Systems PhotoModeler software, in the attempt – verified – to generate a schematic CAD model that could restore the necessary information for postural analysis.
