The separate collection centres (SCC), where citizens can deliver recyclable fractions of MSW, play an important role in a separate collection system. They can be considered a sort of “reverse supermarket”, where people can deliver their recyclables in order to obtain a reduction on the tax to pay or shopping vouchers. This latter is the case of Baronissi, a town of around 17,000 inhabitants in the Province of Salerno, in the Campania region of Italy. The principal aim of the study was to investigate by means of a survey the relationship between citizens and the separate collection program, with particular emphasis on the role played by the SCC. The separate collection system was positively evaluated by 95.8% of the sample, while 99.2% expressed a good or very good evaluation of the quality of the service inside the separate collection centre. The opinion that going to the SCC is more environmentally sound was the most successful among the respondents.
