ABSTRACT This research aimed to understand what are the meanings about the schooling process built by one teenager from a federal institution of vocational education in the interior of Bahia-Brazil, constituting itself as a case study. The theory that served this study was the Cultural Psychology of semiotic basis, using the concepts of semiotic mediation, self and rupture-transition. We use the technique of narrative interview, in which we asked him reported this memories related to scholling trajectory since when went on early childhood education until the present moment in last year in high school. Data analysis proceeded from the construction of the narrative analysis through the theoretical concepts of this research. The position of the I-student appeared often submissive to voices from the parents who backed the Roberto’s school success and pointed directions to him continue in the institution, but other voices also interacted with your self: the pairs and teachers worked as relevant voices in his reconstruction of his I-student, entering in coalition with its previous position. Thus, Roberto silenced the positioning“I-Repeater” and rejected experience a rupture-transition in hisI-student and he opted for signs that authorized his narrative continuity as a disciplined and effective student and it was possible by atendency toward silencing the position “I repeater”. Self worked protecting itself from negative signs and allowed his continuity.
