The article analyzes the works concerning the philosophy of the senses and culture displayed in the "Einheit der Sinne", in the "Anthropologie der Sinne" and in various occasional writings of Plessner. The philosophy of the senses or "estesiology" is understood by Plessner as a fourth Critique in the Kantian sense: an investigation into trascendental function of sensibility, into the powers and limits of the perceptive dimension, with the aim of founding the relationship between nature and culture in a more intimate and detailed way. The senses do not act only at the beginning of rational performances but always follow them through; there is in fact a parallelism between cultural forms and perceptive grammar, between ways of producing meanings and material affordances.
