The aim of this paper is to analyse the ways through which a economic growth process conditions the spatial distribution of population and the level of poverty in Albania. All data (IMF, Instat, LSMS, World Bank) still present Albania as a country characterized by contradictions. In this paper we show the main characteristic of the Albanian economic growth process in the last twenty years (par. 2); the main demographic trends of the country (par. 3-4) and then we quantify (par 5-7) the poverty dynamics by using the database of the three LSMS carried out in Albania in 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2012.
