In this view the paper is about the issue of the quality of the open spaces of public housing estates through a survey on the habitability of the open spaces in the southern suburbs of the city of Avellino, to explore their physical dimension, but also the social and symbolic one, and represents an opportunity to reconsider the regeneration project of the public residential settlements starting just from their open spaces, with a critical view on the new ways of living in the house and in the city.
