This paper aims to examine the nature of philosophical commentary in the Neoplatonic philosophical tradition and in particular in the School of Athens at the time of Proclus. It also examines the structure of the Neoplatonic curric- ulum studiorum and the progressive degrees of knowledge to which the system- atic study of Plato’s dialogues provides access. Finally, it shows how the su- preme goal of Neoplatonic exegesis and philosophy consists in assimilation to the divine.

Abstract
