The present paper reports the experimental results obtained on some masonry specimens confined by means of FRP sheets. Twenty-four specimens have been tested; they differ one another in shape, dimension and amount of confinement. stress-strain curves have been reported. The strength increase observed for the confined specimens with respect to the unconfined material have been compared with some theoretical formulas proposed in the scientific literature. Finally, it has been observed that strength increase is obtained for relevant axial strains. For this reason, an effective strength for the confined material has been introduced and proposed design purpose.
