The Virtual Enterprises consist of several organizations connected and interacting by means of a computer network. In this context, business organizations adopt new forms of interactions and their processes are often supported by the workflow technology. The aim of this paper is to consider the problem of distributed monitoring of workflows defined and enacted within a Virtual Enterprise. We will first introduce a model for the continuous monitoring of workflows. Then, we will discuss in detail the distributed monitoring problem. The underlying system is structured as a multi-agentsystem where specialized agents coordinate their work to obtain performance measures of processes enacted within the Virtual Enterprise.

Abstract
The Virtual Enterprises consist of several organizations connected and interacting by means of a computer network. In this context, business organizations adopt new forms of interactions and their processes are often supported by the workflow technology. The aim of this paper is to consider the problem of distributed monitoring of workflows defined and enacted within a Virtual Enterprise. We will first introduce a model for the continuous monitoring of workflows. Then, we will discuss in detail the distributed monitoring problem. The underlying system is structured as a multi-agentsystem where specialized agents coordinate their work to obtain performance measures of processes enacted within the Virtual Enterprise.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
