The analysis of the text " Epodon Liber" by Horace and of the exegetical notes belonging to the anthology “Lyra” by Giovanni Pascoli has highlighted that the “conservative” trend of the scholar is not originated by a pre-existent attitude. That is most probably the result of his exegetical skills. The methodological innovation of the research does not concern the author's preliminary classic studies as bases for his literary output. Likewise this is considered as an activity specifically addressed at understanding several cultural aspects of ancient world, and especially of that Latin one.

Abstract

The analysis of the text " Epodon Liber" by Horace and of the exegetical notes belonging to the anthology “Lyra” by Giovanni Pascoli has highlighted that the “conservative” trend of the scholar is not originated by a pre-existent attitude. That is most probably the result of his exegetical skills. The methodological innovation of the research does not concern the author's preliminary classic studies as bases for his literary output. Likewise this is considered as an activity specifically addressed at understanding several cultural aspects of ancient world, and especially of that Latin one.
