We present a project for the didactic of mathematics at the first year of Engineering, with multilevel hypertextual organisation of the material, containing theoretical presentation, examples, exercises, step by step solution and verification routine. The pedagogical methodologies adopted in the realisation of the project can be grouped into four categories: expositive, demonstrative, practical and interactive. Even if the package has been realised using Mathematica 4.0, the students do not need to know a programming language. Black boxes philosophy (see Buchberger) has been merged with step by step solutions to the exercises enabling students to learn the process underlying the solutions.
