In this study we present an analysis of drought tendency for a particular area investigating the spatial and temporal variability of some of the widespread drought indexes, the Standard Precipitation Index and the Palmer Drought Severity Index. Particular attention has been given to derive grid maps of climatic variables such as mean monthly and annual precipitation, mean monthly and annual temperature from point measurements using statistical and geostatistical techniques. Linear regression, ordinary Kriging and detrended Kriging performances have been compared to this aim.

Abstract
In this study we present an analysis of drought tendency for a particular area investigating the spatial and temporal variability of some of the widespread drought indexes, the Standard Precipitation Index and the Palmer Drought Severity Index. Particular attention has been given to derive grid maps of climatic variables such as mean monthly and annual precipitation, mean monthly and annual temperature from point measurements using statistical and geostatistical techniques. Linear regression, ordinary Kriging and detrended Kriging performances have been compared to this aim.File in questo prodotto:
