The essay analyzes method and perspectives of Plessner's "critique of the senses". It is configured as a philosophy of symbolic forms on bodily bases, where body means both the biological organism in its correlation with the vital environment, and the material signs with which the world appears to us. We need to systematically connect our cultural practices with certain types of behavior and manipulation of signs, to finally derive different ways of meaning: from music to science, from dance to visual arts, from sport to technological construction. The connection is provided through an original reinterpretation of the theme of Kantian schematism - how we "realize" intellectual concepts - which is extended to the various ways of processing symbols and therefore to the various ways of producing the meanings with which we organize the experience.

Abstract
The essay analyzes method and perspectives of Plessner's "critique of the senses". It is configured as a philosophy of symbolic forms on bodily bases, where body means both the biological organism in its correlation with the vital environment, and the material signs with which the world appears to us. We need to systematically connect our cultural practices with certain types of behavior and manipulation of signs, to finally derive different ways of meaning: from music to science, from dance to visual arts, from sport to technological construction. The connection is provided through an original reinterpretation of the theme of Kantian schematism - how we "realize" intellectual concepts - which is extended to the various ways of processing symbols and therefore to the various ways of producing the meanings with which we organize the experience.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
