The present paper deals with shear strengthening of masonry walls by externally bonded composite materials. FRP based techniques are more and more common for increasing shear strength of masonry walls, but no wellestablished formulation has been still found for designing shear strengthening intervention of existing masonry walls through composite materials. A short review of some analytical formulae currently available in the scientific literature is firstly presented. Secondly, a large number of experimental results of both shear-compression and diagonal-compression tests, drawn out by the scientific literature, have been collected in a wide database. Those experimental data have been finally utilized for assessing the various formulae to predict shear resistance of masonry walls externally strengthened by FRP.

Abstract
The present paper deals with shear strengthening of masonry walls by externally bonded composite materials. FRP based techniques are more and more common for increasing shear strength of masonry walls, but no wellestablished formulation has been still found for designing shear strengthening intervention of existing masonry walls through composite materials. A short review of some analytical formulae currently available in the scientific literature is firstly presented. Secondly, a large number of experimental results of both shear-compression and diagonal-compression tests, drawn out by the scientific literature, have been collected in a wide database. Those experimental data have been finally utilized for assessing the various formulae to predict shear resistance of masonry walls externally strengthened by FRP.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
