We consider a diffusion model based on a Gompertz deterministic growth characterized by a sigmoidal shape with a carrying capacity depending on the initial size of the population. For the obtained stochastic process the first exit time problem from an interval delimitated by two time dependent boundaries is analyzed. An application to tumor growth is presented.
