This paper will offer an analysis of some of the problems that "haunt" students of Spanish L2 consulting monolingual and bilingual lexicographical works. For the examination of the definitions and equivalencies proposed by most consulted dictionaries, I delimited the study to the observation of three voices belonging to the Spanish isotopy Amable, Gentil, Cortés and Italian isotopy Gentile, Cortese, (Amabile). I will try transcend the anecdotal reflections that can mark out these specific cases, in order to present general considerations useful in the field of teaching Spanish in Italy.
