The aim of this contribution is to describe how the network of local authorities and social workers report situations of abuse and maltreatment and what forms of action they undertake in an area of Southern Italy characterized by a significant economic, social and cultural hardship. In particular, the article describes and analyzes the integrated action strategy proposed over the last ten years by the N.O.T (Nucleo Operativo Interdisciplinare Territoriale) operating in the Province of Salerno. The following issues will be discussed: a) the organizational model and interdisciplinary network consisting of local and judicial authorities and Regional Services; b) the intervention strategies adopted (warning, detection, diagnosis and treatment); c) statistical analysis of the information relating to reports received in last years.
