In this paper logistic and Gompertz equations are briefly discussed by using the terminology of population dynamics. Some theorems are proved that provide a detailed description of a class of difference equations of special interest for population dynamics modeling. Use of these results is then made to study in some detail the dynamics of the Gompertz growth process

Abstract
