Design of isolated DC-DC converters is discussed in this paper. A method for the selection of power components is presented, which is based on the search of the set of commercial devices ensuring the most convenient size vs losses trade-off vs reliability trade-off. The correlations among operating conditions, stresses, losses and physical parameters of silicon devices and transformers are used to achieve a formal classification of design solutions. Using suitable figures of merit, a quick identification of components combinations ensuring the compliance with the specifications and priorities of the application is achieved. An example related to a Forward Active Clamp dc-dc converter design is discussed.

Abstract
Design of isolated DC-DC converters is discussed in this paper. A method for the selection of power components is presented, which is based on the search of the set of commercial devices ensuring the most convenient size vs losses trade-off vs reliability trade-off. The correlations among operating conditions, stresses, losses and physical parameters of silicon devices and transformers are used to achieve a formal classification of design solutions. Using suitable figures of merit, a quick identification of components combinations ensuring the compliance with the specifications and priorities of the application is achieved. An example related to a Forward Active Clamp dc-dc converter design is discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
