This paper presents an experimental study undertaken to investigate the seismic behavior of full scale square (300x300 mm) reinforced concrete columns strengthened with Steel Fiber Reinforced Polymer (SFRP) systems. Columns were designed to be representative of existing building structural components; therefore, they were realized with medium/low strength concrete and reinforced by using smooth steel rebars, frequently used in the past. The reinforcement details were arranged following outdated design rules and without keeping into account any seismic details. Tests were carried out by subjecting specimens to a constant axial load and cyclically reversed horizontal force. The effectiveness of the studied techniques is also compared with that of companion columns strengthened with carbon FRP systems, investigated in a previous experimental campaign.

Abstract
The effectiveness of the studied techniques is also compared with that of companion columns strengthened with carbon FRP systems, investigated in a previous experimental campaign.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
