Seeing—and studying boundaries within and around our psyche—means something profound for the any researcher. By entering into a new domain of focus—on borders between, rather that what is “bordered in”-- one stands oneself "on the border" of the comforting and reassuring “mainstream” psychology. It means to place oneself on the uncomfortable outer edge of what is currently labeled “scientific investigation” with a light suitcase knowing you have to build your tools during the transit, but with the firm belief that it is precisely on the border where all the movement and dynamism take place. The centrality of such a kind of locomotion is very evident if we look at various biological systems, from genes to multicellular organisms.

Abstract: | Seeing—and studying boundaries within and around our psyche—means something profound for the any researcher. |
