In conceptual times, investigating proximity as a concept might seem unusual, However, it is in such a temporal context that the concept takes on remarkable scientific interest. When creativity is selected as a lever for development, a territory and its actors through their relations, constitute the capital necessary for increasing the range of competitiveness. Proximity as such, therefore does not disappear, it merely adapts, thus enhancing, together with geographical proximity, its relational dimension. To arrive at such a conclusion, our preliminary objective was to present and illustrate creative territory, in the light of the spatiality of the relations it produces. Subsequently, reflections were made on the specific interpretative frameworks of proximity, reaching the critical consideration that the many dimensions of the concept - in this specific field of investigation – are inseparable in a relational perspective and their classification, it could be said, responds to mere analytical abstraction (Hannerz, 1980). With such a view supported by the analysis of certain best practices, it was tested whether in Campania the possibility existed to put in place a model of sustainable development based on culture and creativity that would lead to the recognition and comprehension of the fermenting creative endogenous humus and in particular, to the mapping of the creative scenario present in the territory of reference and of the pertinent relations of proximity. Finally, the knots to untangle were identified in order to facilitate the setting in motion of territorial dynamics capable of contributing to the socio-economic growth of particularly deprived areas, by means of a systems approach.
