This paper examines the correlation between “knowledge” and “perception” with particular reference to the philosophy of Merleau-Ponty. Hence, the specific paradigm of phenomenology and his new conception of corporeality have been taken into account. In opposition to the traditional Cartesian dichotomy between res cogitans and res extensa, the concepts of the body “proper” and “improper” are then related. From this correlation between “proper” and “improper” comes a different path of knowledge: entrelacs, chiasm, ambiguity of the relationship between the body and the world. In other words, knowledge is realized for profiles, compositions, fragments, decompositions: disiecta membra.
