The global economic crisis has pinpointed the evident structural shortcomings in the European economy, that can only be resolved by putting in place strategic reforms and close coordination of economic policy. At over fifty years from its founding, the Reform of the EU Common Agricultural Policy has been put in place to reinforce competitiveness in the agricultural sector and to promote innovation and sustainable agriculture in support of growth and employment in rural areas. This undoubtedly marks a fine line of discontinuity in the complex process of both redefining agricultural policies in EU strategies and as a synthesis of the various interests and diverging trends. Social, ecological and not merely economic measures are also fundamental together with the protection of the natural heritage to promote intelligent, sustainable and solid growth. The Reform to date can be considered satisfactory in terms of aims and principles, but shortfalls as concerns the means. As a consequence, the paper supports the thesis that indeterminacy remains relative to various elements of the Reform, crucial notwithstanding the effects of imbalance, an extremely volatile market and corporate closures still require compensating.

Abstract
As a consequence, the paper supports the thesis that indeterminacy remains relative to various elements of the Reform, crucial notwithstanding the effects of imbalance, an extremely volatile market and corporate closures still require compensating.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
