The moment resistance of beam-to-column joints is of primary importance in the seismic design of moment resisting steel frames, because it affects the location of dissipative zones. Even though it is generally assumed that full strength joints are able to assure the best be-haviour from the dissipative point of view, the most recent version of Eurocode 8 opened the door to the use of partial strength connections, provided that a dissipative joint components are engaged in plastic range. In addition, in recent years, a growing interest of the scientific community has been addressed to structural systems free from damage or easy to replace after the earthquake. These topics are examined in the present paper where, starting from the results of some research activities developed by several years at University of Salerno in collaboration with Vincenzo Piluso and Massimo Latour, the main critical aspects and de-sign proposals for Full Strength, Partial Strength and Innovative bolted beam-to-column joints are discussed.

Abstract
The moment resistance of beam-to-column joints is of primary importance in the seismic design of moment resisting steel frames, because it affects the location of dissipative zones. Even though it is generally assumed that full strength joints are able to assure the best be-haviour from the dissipative point of view, the most recent version of Eurocode 8 opened the door to the use of partial strength connections, provided that a dissipative joint components are engaged in plastic range. In addition, in recent years, a growing interest of the scientific community has been addressed to structural systems free from damage or easy to replace after the earthquake. These topics are examined in the present paper where, starting from the results of some research activities developed by several years at University of Salerno in collaboration with Vincenzo Piluso and Massimo Latour, the main critical aspects and de-sign proposals for Full Strength, Partial Strength and Innovative bolted beam-to-column joints are discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
