The main aim of the present article is to review the recent developments reached in the field of biotribology by our group. The research work is made through a collaboration between the Applied Mechanics researchers of DIIn and the scientists of the Medical Technology Laboratory of Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute. This review will show the main investigation results obtained in the study of the principal lower limb synovial joints, namely the ankle, the knee and the hip. Particular attention has been paid to the knee and hip implants.
