In this paper the Theory of Plastic Mechanism Control (TPMC) is briefly summarized and applied with reference to Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs). In particular, an innovative application of TPMC is herein presented aiming to account also for the contribution of the columns of the gravity load resisting system. A worked example is reported and the results of non linear static and dynamic analyses are discussed. In addition, with reference to a 5-storey building, a comparison between the design results obtained by means of TPMC and those obtained by Eurocode 8 is provided.

Abstract
In this paper the Theory of Plastic Mechanism Control (TPMC) is briefly summarized and applied with reference to Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs). In particular, an innovative application of TPMC is herein presented aiming to account also for the contribution of the columns of the gravity load resisting system. A worked example is reported and the results of non linear static and dynamic analyses are discussed. In addition, with reference to a 5-storey building, a comparison between the design results obtained by means of TPMC and those obtained by Eurocode 8 is provided.File in questo prodotto:
