The purpose of this paper is to provide a new perspective on emergent technologies that may effect on ports’ competitiveness and sustainability. To reach this aim, a brief literature review on Supply Chain Management (SCM), logistic innovation and ICT, and ports’ competitiveness has been carried out. The case study analysis has been based on definition of port competitiveness eight determinants [1] in order to better understand the main corporate strategies that led to port development and competitiveness. The Port of Venice case study has contributed to the understanding of the most relevant technologies influence on competitiveness, efficiency and sustainability improvement.
