In the last decade, the increase of maritime freight and passenger flows has induced significant impacts in all the urban contexts hosting a maritime port. If on the one hand the activities related to a commercial port may support the economic development of an entire region, on the other hand they can cause not negligible impact on the atmospheric and maritime environment, as well as on the quality of life. It is, therefore, important to effectively esti-mate the environmental impacts that may be caused by a port and to investi-gate specific strategies aimed to mitigate such impacts. In this paper, the en-vironmental footprint of the Salerno port has been investigated pursuing a bottom-up approach. The paper, unlike existing literature, separately analy-zed all the main sources of pollution (sea-side, inner-side, land-side) and took into account all the activities (for each source) and their actual dura-tion. The proposed methodology allowed estimating the current footprint and the potential benefit derived from berths electrification
