Nanostructured polystyrene microparticles containing different silicates as nanosized filler were successfully prepared using an emulsification/solvent evaporation method. X-ray diffraction showed that all hybrid systems were in an intercalated morphology. The microparticles display regular geometry, improved thermal resistance and release behavior dependent upon the silicate type in the hybrid, as demonstrated by preliminary investigations performed using benzophenone as model penetrant. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

Abstract
Nanostructured polystyrene microparticles containing different silicates as nanosized filler were successfully prepared using an emulsification/solvent evaporation method. X-ray diffraction showed that all hybrid systems were in an intercalated morphology. The microparticles display regular geometry, improved thermal resistance and release behavior dependent upon the silicate type in the hybrid, as demonstrated by preliminary investigations performed using benzophenone as model penetrant. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.File in questo prodotto:
