Abstract
The text comments on a Design Workshop, related to the International Conference "Optimistic Suburbia". The section, run by the authors follows and reinterprets Michel Foucault concept of heterotopias, applied to the architectural process. New concepts of space can help to mend the heterogeneous and fragmented fabric of the suburbs. Our proposal aims at looking at the city through a broader look, which reads the reality even beyond the specificity of the site, through the relationships among places. Following Michel Foucault trace of thought of the heterotopias, areas from Lisbon, Luanda and Macao are intersected. Through the juxtaposition of the selected middle-class housing case-studies, we find common traces, images and architectural solutions which construct design strategies of transformation. The concept of identity becomes a space-time montage and the city becomes the narration of places of the individual and the collective experience, within an enlarged reality.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
