TrGrF 20 F4 is a short fragment of the V century B.C. tragedian Achaeus of Eretria. The drama is the Athla or the Athloi, a satyric play. This paper focuses on the description of the athletes who,during the heroic age, leave from their polis to go to the games. Their features underline the aristocratic values: strength, kalokagathia, tryphe. Through an internal focalization the poet expresses the perception of the aristocratics: the word tryphe does not yet have the only negative meaning that it will have later.
