Abstract

To revisit in a comprehensive form the historical contexts and identities of the Mediterranean region is an impossible task which, per se, could launch a long-term join reflection and editorial project. In this Special Issue we have been able to select a series of very diversified and interesting papers to call attention for the large spectrum of so much material available about one of the richest cultural areas in the world. The publication emphasizes two major directions, the historical construct and the geographical identities, and provides a set of eight case studies in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel and Turkey.
