Our study of the metal finds from the northern urban sanctuary preserved for several decades in the storage of the Paestum museum has revealed one of the most important hoards of real and model weapons in Magna Graecia. This paper is divided into two parts. The first presents the object classes with quantitative data (number of fragments and recognisable individual specimens) and information about ritual practices (deposition and exhibition), obtained after careful examination of the objects. The second part focuses on the reconstruction of the context these objects come from, which is only apparently lost. This is a necessary endeavor, which, although fraught with difficulty due to the way the excavation was carried out and the scarcity of information, opens new research perspectives on the history and urban organisation of Poseidonia in the archaic period.

Abstract
Our study of the metal finds from the northern urban sanctuary preserved for several decades in the storage of the Paestum museum has revealed one of the most important hoards of real and model weapons in Magna Graecia. This paper is divided into two parts. The first presents the object classes with quantitative data (number of fragments and recognisable individual specimens) and information about ritual practices (deposition and exhibition), obtained after careful examination of the objects. The second part focuses on the reconstruction of the context these objects come from, which is only apparently lost. This is a necessary endeavor, which, although fraught with difficulty due to the way the excavation was carried out and the scarcity of information, opens new research perspectives on the history and urban organisation of Poseidonia in the archaic period.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
