Abstract

The famous neighborhood of prêt-à-porter the Sentier presents itself as an “enclave” of illegality in the heart of Paris: in the course of the centuries have been settled prostitution and an unconventional textile production. The impact on architectural heritage was however limited. The paper aims to understand how the urban and architectural heritage has been adapted to the world of production and trade (and today to the one of the start-up), in order to reflect on the relationship between the economic and social mutations and an historical complex heritage.
