CONOSCERE E CONSERVARE I CARATTERI ARCHITETTONICI DEL SITO UNESCO DI MAIORI (SA) NELL’EPOCA DEI CONFLITTI TURISTICI E DELLA FRAMMENTAZIONE.

The city of Maiori has many historical buildings in close relation to the climate, the landscape and the economy. It is in the vaulted houses, in the courtyards, in the materials and techniques, in terraced ecosystems, that a rich and delicate heritage of knowledge, skills and ingenuity is realized which has earned the Coast its inclusion among the UNESCO “Cultural Landscapes”. Today, the delicacy of its widespread heritage is threatened by repeated violence against the landscape, by the proliferation of accommodation facilities and, in general, by off-scale construction. The aim of this research consists in the documentation of the constructive and formal characteristics typical of Maiori’s architecture, useful to provide a support to consciously intervene in the coastal development and thus avoid the danger that other identifying elements from the high value material and immaterial for the history of these places and territories are lost.

La città di Maiori, come tutti i centri costieri, presenta un edificato storico in stretto rapporto al clima, al territorio e all’economia. È nelle case a volta, nei cortili, nei materiali, nelle tecniche e negli ecosistemi terrazzati, che si concretizza il ricco e delicato patrimonio di saperi, di capacità e di ingegno che è valso alla Costiera l’inserimento tra i “Paesaggi Culturali” dell’UNESCO. Oggi, la delicatezza di tale patrimonio diffuso è minacciata da ripetute violenze nei confronti del paesaggio, dal proliferare di strutture ricettive e, in generale, da edilizia fuori scala con incauti incrementi di superfici e di volumi. Lo scopo della ricerca consiste nella documentazione dei caratteri costruttivi e formali tipici dell’architettura di Maiori, supporto utile per intervenire consapevolmente nell’edificato costiero e scongiurare così il pericolo che vadano perduti altri elementi identitari dall’alto valore materiale e immateriale per la storia luoghi e territori.
