Supercapacitors (SC) were developed in the emerging field of nanotechnology, enabling improved surface area and designed nanosize morphology exploitation. SC can be used for diverse applications, i.e.,mobile phones, hybrid vehicles, laser technology, communication devices, military warheads, solar cell energy storage, and uninterruptible power supplies. The fundamentals, general classification, electrode materials, and electrolytes for SC are discussed.
