The aggression to the territory, legal or illegal, in Italy assumes a particular importance in the processes of organization of the anthropized space. The present work is a first exploratory analysis of illegal land take, as part of a wider project of the Territorial Development Observatory, aimed at capturing the relationships between crimes recognized by the judgements of the Supreme Court and socio-economic variables provided by various sources (ISTAT, Minister of economics and finance and Urban Index) on the Italian territory. Therefore, the analysis is conducted through statistical regression models and spatial empirical analysis, which also make use of GIS tools. This paper is the result of the joint work of both Authors, to which the paper has to be attributed in equal parts.
