This chapter develops my speech within the seminar cycle “La Violenza Spiegata” held at the University of Salerno. Gender violence is a complex and multidimensional concept that has not yet found an operational definition that addresses its theoretical, ethical, and methodological challenges. Regardless of one’s epistemological position, both quantitative and qualitative studies have contributed decisively to the development of gender-based violence research in social science. However, among the social scientists, there is a growing awareness that social research on gender-based violence may advance with the aid of Mixed Methods, a methodological perspective that integrates quantitative and qualitative, in order to achieve a more refined understanding of the in-vestigated phenomena.

Abstract
This chapter develops my speech within the seminar cycle “La Violenza Spiegata” held at the University of Salerno. Gender violence is a complex and multidimensional concept that has not yet found an operational definition that addresses its theoretical, ethical, and methodological challenges. Regardless of one’s epistemological position, both quantitative and qualitative studies have contributed decisively to the development of gender-based violence research in social science. However, among the social scientists, there is a growing awareness that social research on gender-based violence may advance with the aid of Mixed Methods, a methodological perspective that integrates quantitative and qualitative, in order to achieve a more refined understanding of the in-vestigated phenomena.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
