The role of new technologies as key levers for the development of urban areas and the improvement of cities management leads extant research to conceptualize smart cities. The concept refers to the instrumented, interconnected, and intelligent (Harrison et al., 2010) urban areas that can pursue shared growth through an integrated set of technologies that shapes the interactions among actors (Nam & Pardo, 2011). The need to address social challenges in smart cities is widely acknowledged in the literature (Höjer & Wangel, 2015; Visvizi & Lytras, 2018). Due to the different kinds of stakeholder groups with different needs which lie in urban areas, smart cities and smart regions should focus on the development of new sustainable and socially aware polices based on ICTs (information & communication technologies)-enabled solutions. Therefore smart technologies can foster the emergence of sustainability and innovation, which are two key levers to tackle social challenge for the improvement of cities’ well-being (Visvizi, Lytras, Damiani, & Mathkour, 2018).

Abstract
Therefore smart technologies can foster the emergence of sustainability and innovation, which are two key levers to tackle social challenge for the improvement of cities’ well-being (Visvizi, Lytras, Damiani, & Mathkour, 2018).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
