Una memoria urbana cancellata. Trasformazioni dell'area del porto di Salerno dal fascismo ad oggi. An urban memory erased. Transformations of the harbour area of Salerno from fascism to the present

During the Fascist decades, the city of Salerno has a period of great building development with the realization of significant urban transformations and great public works. The area of the ancient port of the city underwent the greatest changes, necessary to cope with the new activities promoted by the Regime. The paper aims to investigate an example of an urban palimpsest such as the Salerno port area ones, from the beginning of the twentieth century at today to identify, between the urban signs and the surviving buildings, the resilient values to be interpreted for a perspective of conservation and enhancement of the whole area.

La città di Salerno nel corso del Ventennio fascista, vive un momento di grande sviluppo edilizio con la realizzazione di significative trasformazioni urbanistiche e grandi opere pubbliche. L’area del porto storico della città subisce i maggiori adattamenti necessari per far fronte alle nuove attività promosse dal Regime. Il contributo mira ad indagare un esempio di palinsesto urbano quale quello dell’area portuale salernitana a partire dall’inizi del Novecento ad oggi per individuare, tra i segni urbani e gli edifici superstiti, i valori resilienti da interpretare per una prospettiva di conservazione e valorizzazione dell’intera area.
