Through the examination of decorative programs, testified by the paintings of the internal walls of monumental tombs, public buildings and private residences in Greece as in southern Italy, we will try to show the progressive affirmation of a quality craftsmanship that fixes the canons of a wall decoration not figurative. The route winds throughout the 4th and part of the 3rd century B:C. until full adoption in the Republican age.
